Intro & Profile
NZK(en-zee-kay)
I’m a local Ipswich boy who got into soul music in the late seventies and basically haven’t looked back. As people who know me will tell you, I can’t just like something, I have to be part of it, and since I’m no Will Downing (or for that matter, Kenny Thomas!) and can’t play a musical instrument, then DJ’ing was the only way.
I had my first gig in 1986 at the Civil Service Club. It was nearly my last, they wanted Elvis – I gave them the Fatback Band ,
Atlantic Star & Steve Silk Hurley. Suffice to say the night did not go down well. Undaunted though I ploughed on and worked a variety of venues from weddings to club nights over the years.
I also got the radio bug and got involved in pirate radio and community radio and can still be heard sometimes on ICR in Ipswich. My new Tuesday night show on Funk U Radio, 'Soul-Love', will feature anything from 70’s rare grooves through to the latest soul releases (that’s soul, not r&b!!!) plus smooth jazz/jazz funk & soulful house.
Join me, every Tuesday 8-10pm GMT, right here on Funk U Radio.
Email me with any request, shout-outs or dedications and I promise I''ll do my best for you !
